Welcome to Blueprint DIY! In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the process of threading the Brother Airflow 3000 serger. Threading a serger may seem daunting, but with the right instructions, you'll be sewing like a pro in no time. Let's dive in!
Getting Started:
Before we begin threading, make sure all your cones of thread are in place. Then, gather your threads and bring them up to the thread holder.
Threading the Lower Loopers:
Wrap each thread around the thread holder, ensuring they're secured in place. For the lower loopers, thread from right to left.
Threading the Needles:
For the needles, thread from left to right. Take your time to pull each thread through the thread guides and tension settings, allowing them to hang freely.
Threading with the Air Threader:
Now, it's time to utilize the air threader feature of the Brother Airflow 3000. Start by ensuring the foot is in the up position and both covers are open. Pull the smaller cover to the side and open it down. Rotate the wheel until it clicks into place, ensuring the covers are closed.
Threading the Lower Loopers:
Pull out 12 to 16 inches of thread, insert it into the designated hole, and press the button to activate the air threader. Use tweezers to guide the thread behind the foot and ensure it's securely in place.
Threading the Needles:
With the foot down, press the button corresponding to the needle you're threading. Guide the thread behind the needle bar, up over the thread guide, and cut it with the built-in thread cutter. Use the air threader to effortlessly thread the needle.
Finishing Touches:
Once all threads are in place, pull them towards the back of the machine and ensure they're underneath the foot. Lower the foot and wait for the red light to indicate readiness.
